The Western Silvicultural Contractors' Association is hosting the 2013 Western Wildfire Conference on April 10 13 2013 in Kelowna. Managing wildfires is not just about suppression. It's about many other things including land use decisions resource and utility operations home design and insurance municipal priorities resource policy and jurisdiction. The conference is about how all these imperatives can work together to avoid unmanageable wildfire events and their consequences. CBT funds will be used to send three attendees from the West Kootenay involved in wildfire and emergency management in their communities.
