The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) through its participation in Communities Adapting to Climate Change(CACCI) made it a priority to contract a consultant to perform a regional Hazards Risks and Vulnerability Assessment. The May 2011 assessment identified and rated wildfires and flooding as the top two hazards for the RDEK. This project is phase one of three of a planned regional mitigation program and will undertake a regional flood hazard study that incorporates the potential impacts of climate change and identifies and prioritizes flood hazard areas
