Funding to develop a male parenting program in both the East and West Kootenays. This project will increase the capacity of fathers to take a positive role in their families and in their communities and to equip and inspire young men to be better fathers as well as to strengthen the community networks for fathers who present a risk to their families and their communities. CBT funds will be used to fund the project Coordinator's time travel local program incubation supplies and administrative support for both The development of healthy individuals and healthy families leads to healthier communities. By reaching out to fathers and teaching them parenting skills coping skills and life skills we help reduce the occurrence of other social problems such as family violence child abuse addictions and relationship breakdowns. A potential extension of the dads' project is to work with groups of fathers on entrepreneurial development supporting stay at home fathers.
