Environmental Stewardship Advisor

A 'Community Support and Project Monitoring' program was identified during regional workshops as a key component of the strategic plan developed by the CKFRP in 1999. This eventually resulted in the offering of stewardship advisory services by up to three 'stewardship coordinators' employed by the CKFRP from 1999 through 2004. Funding was provided by Fisheries Renewal BC (FsRBC terminated March 2002) Fisheries and Oceans Canada (Habitat Conservation and Stewardship Program terminated March 2003) and the CBT. CBT provided funding for one stewardship coordinator to June 2004. The program was very successful and there has been consistent and strong community demand and support for the advisory services.
