National Aboriginal Day was proclaimed by the Federal Government to honour and celebrate the Aboriginal people's culture and heritage of Canada. June 21st is the Summer Solstice: the longest day of the year and is traditionally celebrated by most Aboriginal peoples as a day to honour and give thanks to the sun for everything it provides. The celebration will take place at the Invermere Community Hall on June 21 2008. CBT funds will go toward the Drum Group and Singers for the mini Pow Wow and Demonstration Dancers (including fancy traditional jingle and hoop for both men women and children) and a Traditional Aboriginal Storyteller.
