The Nature Conservancy of Canada will increase habitat for native ungulates and endangered species in the Rocky Mountain Trench through the implementation of restoration practices including prescribed burning aimed at re establishing historic open forest/open range habitat structures on Kootenay River Ranch. Nature Conservancy of Canada also hopes to raise the profile of restoration in the Trench through extension and communication activities.
