Mountain Caribou Education Program

CBT and the Friends of Mount Revelstoke and Glacier enter into this agreement to provide resources to support an environmental education program focused on Mountain Caribou in the Columbia Basin. This project will be delivered around the Basin in the fall and winter of 2010/11. This project uses the experience of mountain caribou researchers and certified teachers to bridge the gap between science and the public to present a balanced view of threats and recovery options for mountain caribou to students and educators. Mountain caribou are an endangered species that are endemic to the Columbia River Basin and are declining at 4% annually. They are dependent on old growth forests for their survival and thus are an excellent umbrella species for many other less known or less charismatic species.
