The feasibility study is meant to assess the construction of a community fiber optics network in the City of Revelstoke. There is very strong evidence that a community desiring to make the transition from a resource based economy to a diversified economy needs a high speed communications infrastructure to attract modern businesses. A number of North American communities are taking the initiative to build high speed data infrastructures for job creation and economy diversification. While most of these projects are in progress now some of their experiences are illuminating.
