The Seniors Counselling and Community Volunteer Income Tax Program assists with accessing government programs (ie: applications for Old Age Security Canada Pension Plan SAFER Shelter Aid for Elderly Renters health care services) and is also an information and referral service. This project will also assist low income and persons with limitations with literacy or numeracy in income tax preparation. Volunteers for this project are trained by Revenue Canada and these programs serve approximately 500 seniors per year. CBT funds will be used to help cover the costs for volunteer coordinator support rental space equipment and liability insurance.
