The project will fund and facilitate the work of the Kootenay Boundary Communications Networks (KBCN) in achieving their mandate. The KBCN has already made progress by developing a Telecommunications Vision Plan. In addition the KBCN has begun work on the development of a Request for Proposals on the best qualified solution to the region's telecommunications needs. The successful bidder will develop the business case for the infrastructure research what is involved in a Competitve Local Exchange Carrier and outline other options as well as consider the financial requirements for implementation. The KBCN's mandate will include evaluating proposals and monitorning contract deliverables. It is also anticipated that the KBCN will continue to be involved in the next phase of this project when implementation of the infrastructure is explored.
