The Youth Employment Resource Centre (YERC) would like the opportunity to provide youth of Nelson and area with the tools to explore and pursue self employment. YERC is responding to a demonstrated need for youth to follow an entrepreneurial path in order to realize their goals and remain in an area deficient in sustainable jobs. The "Tools for Young Entrepreneurs" project focuses on creating alliances within the community in order to build on the strength and the capacity of the youth in Nelson Slocan Valley Kaslo and Salmo to become self employed. The project provides a two day interactive event on May 1 and 2 2004 where the youth can access unique workshops on the first day and a fun interactive information fair on the second day. The project then follows up the event with the development of an interactive CD which assists the youth in applying the tools and accessing the resources and in turn to actualizing their goals of self employment.
