The Columbia Basin Water Smart Initiative (Water Smart) will address water conservation in the Basin and provide support to Regional Districts and Municipalities. As a regional approach to provide capacity and support to local governments in achieving community specific water conservation targets that contribute to a 20 percent Basin wide reduction in community water consumption by 2015. CBT is committed to increasing residents' opportunity for involvement and influence in water management and improving the overall understanding and awareness of water related issues. CBT will commit $40 000 to contract a public education and outreach coordinator who will be responsible for the coordination Water Smart communications.
